Winter sport possibilities

The climate of Mariazell provides a safe snowy skipiste from November to April.

In spite of itt he pists are equipped with snowcannon. The skipass of this year are provided seven pistcomlexes, it takes about 70 kilometers and different levels of pist can be found there.The skipasses of this year are valid for the following mountains:

  • Mariazeller Bürgeralpe
  • Niederalpl
  • Gemeindealpe Mitterbach
  • Annaberg
  • Türnitz
  • Lilienfeld
  • Puchenstuben

One of the best one is the „Bürgeralpe”, which has a lift just 200 meters from Hotel Magnus Klause ***.

Snow and entertainment for the whole familiy-this is the point of „Bürgeralpe”. The choice takes 8, altogether 11 kilometer long pists among which every kind of level can be found. From the professional  to the beginner  everybody can find the best possibility controlled and awarded by the Steier pist compentence certificate. Magic rug and robelift can be found on children’s pist and those of fascinated by snowboard can find their interests on  the piste specially built for them.

There are two skischool in Mariazell with renter.

As the skeleton world championship was organized here a couple of years ago, we can offer you the 1700 m long, brandnew illuminated skeleton run, which tertminates at Mariazell valley station. With the lift up with the skeleton down to the valley – an entertaining swirl for the young and elderly generation as well. Those who are afraid of speed but wants to enjoy possibilities provided by the snow can chose among shorter and longer skirun pists of the whole territory of Mariazell.

There is something unique among wintersports, snowsurf towed by horse. You can tried this snowsurf towed by horse in St. Sebastian provided  by safe circumstances.

Those who want to admire the view covered by snow, can take a horse sledge and can take a ride on the route in the forest.
Mariazell and the Gost thought of the skeaters as well. There is an artificial ice rink in the downtown, many people pursue this sport in Erlaufsee, too.
